WMF Silver Plate Centrepiece Compote Fruit Bowl, in great overall condition.

Absolutely exceptional centrepiece compote fruit bowl with its waved formed green and white glass bowl.

Fully stamped with WMF, with very minimum plate loss around pointed edges but nothing serious for its age.

Few small air bubbles from when it was made and one very hardly noticeable chip on the underside of one of the points.

WMF is the abbreviation for Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik, which in English means Wurttemberg Metalware Factory.

The history of this foundry is well documented. WMF was created in 1880 after the successful merger of two Wurttemberg foundries, the Geislingen factory belonging to Daniel Straub (Straub & Sohn) and the Esslingen factory of Alfred Ritter (A. Ritter & Co.).
