Solid Silver Glasgow Wood & Whitelaw 1910 Souvenir Spoon Smollett.

The item is in great condition showing very little wear at all.

Fully hallmarked for Glasgow assay office, along with the date letter N which dates this to around 1910.

The makers mark W&W relates to Wood & Whitehall, they worked between 1905 to 1937 at Mitchell Street, Glasgow; subsequently Virginia Court, Virginia Street, Glasgow

They specialised in Gold masonic jewellery, souvenir spoons.

I believe the word “Smollett” on the spoon refers to:

Tobias George Smollett was a Scottish poet and author. He was best known for picaresque novels such as The Adventures of Roderick Random, The Adventures of Peregrine Pickle and The Expedition of Humphry Clinker

The measurements are 11.5cm long by 2.5cm wide.
