Leonidas CIRCA 1939 Leonidas WWII British Military Pocket Watch by the famous Swiss manufacturer.

In great condition and running well.

Chrome-plated case with snap-on back and bezel.

Inside the rear cover is a scratched engraved service inspection date of 18-7-1949 GCL.

War Department broad arrow, G. S. T. P and U11526 on back.

Case diameter 52mm.

The original light tan dial has some wear and ageing but still looks good like you would expect from such a lovely military watch, with black and luminous markers and skeleton hands.

Luminous is no longer active.

Dial signed Leonidas.

Fine quality 15-jewel movement by a company with an excellent reputation for fine military watches.

Plastic glass is smoked due to age, one could have it replaced but at present it is original.

A major supplier for the German army during the ’30s, the Leonidas Company was originally formed by Julien Bourquin in Switzerland in 1841 and was named after the legendary king of Sparta. The company specialises in fine stopwatches, chronographs and multifunction watches for aircraft and car instrument panels.

In 1964 the company merged with Heuer, forming Heuer-Leonidas S.A
