Antique Style Silver Plate Dr Christopher Dresser Art Deco Signed Tea.

Small modernist Art Deco coffee/teapot designed by Dr Christopher Dresser (1834-1904). The design of the teapot is described as “industrial reformationist”, and predates Art Deco movement by 50 years. This design was made in limited numbers and considered a “prototype” according to guides.

The original was manufactured by James Dixon & Sons in Sheffield. Circa 1880. Hand-made in England.

This design was revived again in the Art Deco period, these being modern reproduction versions, however, they are still of very good quality and make a great alternative to the real thing.

Made of E.P.N.S (Electro Plated Nickel Silver) with a simple but stylish Ebonised wood handle. Simple rectangle shape with x4 square stumpy feet, upright handle, hinged half-square lid and tapering spout.

Marked beneath “Designed by Dr Christopher Dresser” with a worn diamond registration mark. I, 9, 11, Rd. reg. Mark is for 1878 when the original was designed.
