Antique stunning tramp art sewing or jewellery box in lovely untouched and none restored original condition.

In stock

This antique tramp art sewing or jewellery box is a stunning piece, in its original, untouched condition without any restoration. It comes complete with a working lock and key. Inside the box, there is a lovely small mirror, and it features a decorative metal pull to lift the lid.

The top of the box is beautifully designed, showcasing velveted sections with a pressed star stud at the centre of each partition. The interior is also adorned with original, unrestored velvet covering.

Tramp art began in the late 19th century and continued into the mid-20th century, from the 1870s to the 1940s. There is no definitive record of its origins or the individuals who started it. These remarkable pieces were typically crafted from scrap wood, such as old boxes, furniture, cigar boxes, and shipping crates.

This particular piece features lovely geometric shapes and designs on all sides of the box. As time goes on, items of this condition and style are becoming increasingly rare.
