Antique French Bouillotte lamp circa 1880 in a very attractive design, the condition is stunning and in full working order with new twisted wire to set the lamp off, A very nice example of a very old and sought-after lamp.

The origin of this shade was founded in the French card game called Bouillotte of the 18th century.

The card table was typically lit by a cluster of burning candles surrounding a vertical rod upon which rested a lampshade.

The shade was adjustable up and down so that as the candles burned down the shade could be lowered.

The measurements of the lamp are approx. 12 inches wide overall, 18 inches high overall, shade is approx 6 inches in diameter and the base is 5 inches by 5 inches.

Really is an outstanding decorative lamp that would set any desk or room off well.

The lamp has been rewired with 3 core flex cable.
