Victorian Solid Silver Chatelaine with Spectacles case.

Brightly cut floral flower engraving throughout the case, with no marked or engraved cartouche.

Fully hallmarked in 1886, and made by Quality Silversmith Colen Hewer who worked at Northampton Street, Birmingham.

He was famous for making a great list of silver items along the lines of Boxes, buckles, card cases, chatelaine clips, cups, decanter labels, flasks, fruit knives, judge’s gavels, napkin rings, posy holders, purses and scissor cases.

The silver clip is hallmarked, and the case is also hallmarked although slightly rubbed on the case but can still be read.

The length of the case is approx. 8 inches by 1 1/2 inches.

In very good condition with just some light wear, which is to be expected from an item of this age.

The weight of the item is approx. 63.5 grams.
