A white glazed ceramic match striker holder with Black lettering and yellow “VR” and crown. Retaining a lot of the original colours with minimum fading.

Match strikers were used before matchboxes had sandpaper on the side. Matches were placed in the central recess and when they were required, they were struck on the rough surface around the outside.

The match striker is approx 116 mm (4¼ in) in diameter.
