A 1930s shop counter glass display jar was used loosely to sell Smith’s Crisps over the grocer’s shop counter.

Made to advertise Smith’s crisps, “SMITH’S CRISPS” is etched onto the glass on top. Originally, these would have been in the blue and white colours of the brand. The blue and red have now faded, but have left a beautiful white etching.

The base has the following text at the bottom: “THIS JAR IS THE PROPERTY OF SMITH’S POTATO CRISPS (1929) LTD”.

This is perfect for storing small items in the kitchen or house, or just as a talking point within the home.

This advertising display jar does show some minor signs of age and wear, both through the faded writing and also through some minor nibbles at the top rim of the base, which would have occurred through the use of lifting the lid on and off. Overall, though, it is in excellent condition.

Measurements are 18cm in diameter at the bottom of the jar and 26.5cm high.
